After the birth of their child, some women experience difficult times.

Referred to as postpartum depression, this problem has been ignored for too long. The United States has just approved a fast-acting drug for this particular depression.

Host Marie-Claude Lavallée talks regarding it with Diane Lamarre, pharmacist and professor at the University of Montreal.

“We have to distinguish between baby blues. It appears two or three days following giving birth and usually doesn’t last more than two weeks. But there is really a depression that can set in following childbirth, and there, we are talking regarding much more marked symptoms: depressed mood, crying, eating or sleeping disorders, etc.

And Diane Lamarre explains how the new drug can counter the effects of this depression.
