Myrtle Beach travelers will soon have more options for reaching the Northeast, as Breeze Airways announced fresh service to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Portland, Maine. The airline revealed the expansions on Tuesday, citing growing demand driven by an influx of people moving to the region. The move underscores Breeze Airways’ strategy of connecting underserved markets with affordable, direct flights.
The addition of these routes reflects a broader trend of increased travel to and from Myrtle Beach, a popular East Coast destination. According to Breeze Airways founder and CEO David Neeleman, “Myrtle Beach continues to grow, and with an influx of people moving to the region, there is a demand for more travel.” The airline aims to provide convenient and cost-effective travel options for both residents, and visitors.
Nonstop Flights to Pittsburgh Begin This Summer
Breeze Airways will launch nonstop flights between Myrtle Beach and Pittsburgh beginning July 3. The service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. One-way fares are starting at $39, making it an attractive option for those seeking a quick getaway. This new route will connect Pittsburgh International Airport to one of the most popular summer vacation spots in the region, as noted in a recent announcement.
Portland, Maine Access via BreezeThru Service
For travelers looking to venture further north, Breeze Airways will offer one-stop, no-change-of-plane BreezeThru service to Portland, Maine, starting July 2. Neeleman highlighted that Portland represents the farthest northeast destination served from Myrtle Beach, “opening the door to even greater connectivity to Maine and New England.” This service allows passengers to travel seamlessly to their destination without the hassle of changing planes.
Expanded Service to Existing Destinations
Beyond the new routes, Breeze Airways is also increasing service to several existing destinations from Myrtle Beach. Akron-Canton, Ohio, will see daily flights beginning July 1. Service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will increase to six times weekly, also starting July 1. Flights to New York/Islip, New York, will be available four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, beginning July 1. These expansions demonstrate the airline’s commitment to meeting the growing travel needs of the region.
Travelers interested in booking these new and expanded flights can do so starting Tuesday, according to the airline. The airline currently operates a fleet of brand-new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, focusing on passenger experience and innovation. Breeze Airways also offers amenities such as high-speed onboard WiFi and preferred seating options, as well as free family seating and no change or cancellation fees.
The airline’s expansion comes as Myrtle Beach continues to experience growth and attract new residents. As WMBF News reported, Neeleman emphasized the demand for increased travel options in the area.
Looking ahead, Breeze Airways’ continued expansion from Myrtle Beach signals a positive outlook for tourism and connectivity in the region. The airline’s focus on affordable and convenient travel options is likely to attract even more visitors and support the area’s economic growth. The airline will continue to evaluate opportunities to expand its network and provide travelers with more choices.
