Breitling has taken over Universal Genève. The information came last Tuesday in the middle of the day and it is worth paying attention to with a little perspective. It could well gain a prominent place in the watchmaking landscape in the coming years, but for now we will have to content ourselves with analyzing its contours. Stakeholders were contacted, with no follow-up. Neither Georges Kern, director and shareholder of Breitling, nor Alfred Gantner, non-executive chairman of Breitling and founding partner of Partners Group, Breitling’s main shareholder, responded to our requests.
