Lady Gaga will not attend the Oscars ceremony on Sunday (12.03.23).
The 36-year-old singer and actress’ ‘Hold My Hand’ from the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ soundtrack is nominated for ‘Best Original Song’, but she won’t be able to join the other artists pre-selected at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles due to a scheduling conflict with “Joker: Folie a Deux”, in which she plays Harley Quinn.
Oscars producer Glenn Weiss said at the Oscars creative team press conference: “We have a great relationship with Lady Gaga and her team. [mais] she’s in the middle of filming a movie right now, and we’re here to honor the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie.
“After a number of exchanges, it seemed to us that she could not give a performance of the level that we are used to with her, that she is used to giving and all the rest.
“So she won’t be on the show, but this is, from our point of view, someone who makes a film and we fully understand that this is the priority in this business, especially when we honor films.
While Gaga – who performed at the 2019 Oscars with Bradley Cooper, when “Shallow” from their film “A Star Is Born” won Best Original Song – won’t be performing at this year’s ceremony, the other named artists are all confirmed to perform, including Rihanna (“Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”), Sofia Carson and Diane Warren (“Applause” from “Tell It Like a Woman”), David Byrne, Son Lux and Stephanie Hsu (“This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once”), and Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava (“Naatu Naatu” from “RRR”).
Additionally, Lenny Kravitz will sing during the In Memoriam segment.
