A nearly-married teen was arrested on her wedding day in Mexico on extortion charges that also include her future husband and six other suspects.

The young woman, identified as Nancy N., was arrested last month as she prepared to marry Clemente N., CBS News reported.

The couple are part of a group of people accused of extorting chicken traders in Toluca, near the Mexican capital. The group of suspects is also suspected of kidnapping four employees of a poultry store, according to authorities.

One of the eight suspects is also accused of having driven the vehicle which transported the kidnapped victims.

The suspects are suspected of having ties to a drug cartel, according to the prosecutor’s office. Earlier in the month, the same cartel was held responsible for a drone attack that caused the deaths of six people.
