Brigadier General Amin Hoteit on the South Lebanon Front: Analysis and Insights

2024-01-22 09:20:30

Military expert, retired Brigadier General Amin Hoteit, indicated in an interview with Al-Nashra that, so far, it is unlikely that matters on the South Lebanon front will slide into a comprehensive war, even though the Israeli side has a permanent aggressive intention.

He pointed out that Israel will not implement this aggressive intention unless it guarantees success and containing the reaction, explaining that the situation on this front has reached the point of extreme pain for Tel Aviv, given that Hezbollah operations forced it, for the first time since the year. 1948, to establish a security zone empty of residents, in addition to displacing large numbers of them, without ignoring the factor of disruption of the economic sectors.

Hoteit believed that Tel Aviv is therefore deliberately escalating in order to push Hezbollah to be the initiator of the comprehensive confrontation, because it does not want to be alone in this confrontation, but rather wants to involve the United States in it, which is only achieved if the party is initiator.

He placed the current Israeli talk regarding a truce on this front within this framework, considering that it would be a trap for Hezbollah, but he stressed that the party is still in control of the situation and the course of affairs, and it will not give Tel Aviv this argument.
