American pop star Britney Spears’ marriage to Iranian-American actor Sam Asgari lasted only 14 months, news reports said Thursday.
And the British newspaper “The Guardian” reported that Asgari had filed for divorce from Britney Spears, according to a person familiar with the case and close to Asgari, who refused to reveal his identity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.
This comes after US media reported in recent hours that Spears and Asgari had “effectively broken up”.
Spears married Asghari at his home in Thousand Oaks, California, on June 9, 2022, in front of many guests, including stars Madonna, Paris Hilton and Selena Gomez.
It is known that the American pop star began dating Asgari in 2016, after he appeared in one of her music videos.
Spears’ wedding was considered a major turning point in her new life, after she ended her father’s guardianship that lasted for years.
And Spears had expressed her desire to marry Asgari, among other reasons that prompted her to end her guardianship.
The two announced their engagement in September 2021, once she was released from custody.
The marriage was the first for Asghari (29 years), and the third for Spears (41 years), who was married for less than 3 days in 2004 to her childhood friend Jason Alexander, then to dancer Kevin Federline for 3 years.
The famous American singer, who has tens of millions of dollars, was placed under the guardianship of her father in 2008, after she had psychological problems.
