At some point, Brock Purdy will look back on the past year and remember a roller coaster ride of emotions that is now reaching its next peak. The San Francisco 49ers NFL quarterback recently got engaged to longtime girlfriend, volleyball player Jenna Brandt.
Purdy tried to put his happiness into words on “Instagram”: “My Jenna girl forever. I can’t wait to be your man and grow together. This is forever babe. I love you,” he wrote Playmaker of the Niners.
Can the 23-year-old give the last boost to his fiancee’s “yes”? After all, Purdy has been in a race against time since his elbow surgery in March.
However, Purdy is said to be very well on schedule. Most recently, head coach Kyle Shanahan was “quite optimistic” that Purdy will be at the start in week one.
“Usually that doesn’t mean he comes back that day – usually you have to be back before that to achieve that goal. And that’s the goal we’re hoping for and we have no reason to think otherwise.” Shanahan encourages 49ers fans.

If Purdy gets fit again in time, the 23-year-old should take over the starter job again in the Bay Area. He would edge out Trey Lance and Sam Darnold, who would be left with the backup spot.
Purdy himself started the season as the number three quarterback. After the injuries of Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, the Mr. Irrelevant of the 2022 draft was thrown in at the deep end and convinced right away.
The winning streak that Purdy put on with the team only ended in the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles. In that game, Purdy sustained the aforementioned elbow injury and was barely able to help his team.
