Former CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin is opening up about her personal life, addressing her desires and relationship boundaries following her recent divorce, while simultaneously charting an independent course in her professional career.
The 47-year-old journalist, who stepped away from her role at CNN in 2021 after spending 13 years with the network, has been sharing candid reflections on her Substack regarding post-divorce life, dating standards, and what she truly seeks in a partnership. Her marriage to British producer James Fletcher ended in 2023.
“I don’t want less intimacy. I want more,” Baldwin wrote in a recent post on her platform, as reported by the New York Post. “I love being deeply known, and knowing someone deeply in return. Instead I crave spaciousness — in partnership or out of it.”
Dating Standards and Personal Boundaries
These frank reflections arrive just weeks after Baldwin captured headlines for an unusually honest look into her modern dating experiences. She revealed that she has turned down multiple advances from men seeking intimacy, including one suitor who had previously “run a country,” alongside another who flew in simply to take her out to dinner.
While making it clear that she enjoys sex, Baldwin explained that she has become far more selective regarding where she invests her energy and time. Her solo travels have played a major role in teaching her how to prioritize herself and establish firm personal boundaries.

“I love to give. And if I’m not careful, it’s also one of the quickest ways I leave myself,” she wrote, adding that “a boundary isn’t about keeping you out. It’s about keeping me intact.”
Baldwin noted that she is actively trying to master the balance between maintaining the deep independence she feels when traveling alone and remaining physically and emotionally close to a partner. “I have to learn how to keep this same nearness to myself while standing three feet from someone I love,” she reflected. “How to turn toward myself without needing a passport to do it.”
Launching Independent Journalism on Her Own Terms
Alongside these personal revelations, Baldwin has offered a major career update, signaling a bold step into independent media. The journalist is currently developing a new independent journalism project titled America, Tell Me Everything, which will take her across the United States to highlight the stories of women from diverse backgrounds.
“After twenty-plus years in mainstream media, I’m doing journalism on my terms,” Baldwin stated, explaining that the project will focus on women whose daily lives and perspectives differ vastly from her own.
Reflecting on the transition from traditional television to independent reporting, Baldwin emphasized that she is ready to leave the past behind and pour her energy into her foundational work. “So, enough about my dating life,” she wrote on Substack. “I’m much more interested in leaning into my life’s work — and that of women across this country. Telling their stories with them, on our terms.”
As Baldwin continues production on her cross-country reporting project and shares her journey on Substack, audiences can expect further updates on her independent media ventures as production progresses.
