“Brooklyn Nets Eliminated from 2023 Playoffs: A Look at the Franchise’s Reconstruction Ahead”

2023-04-22 21:51:54

Once again beaten by the Sixers, the Nets are officially eliminated from the 2023 Playoffs. A second sweep in two years for the franchise, which can now fully focus on the reconstruction to come.

Not really the same workforce but a common goal: Brooklyn failed again in the first round of the Playoffs. Last year, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving took the Celtics head-on, cashing in a clean and flawless sweep. The two All-Stars have since passed but the 2023 Nets unfortunately suffered the same fate for them. A score may be severe because Brooklyn fought well for the majority of the series but Philly was able to count on its executives to tip the decision each time. Joel Embiid, James Harden, Tyrese Maxey or even Tobias Harris took turns.

On the Brooklyn side, the same cannot be said, however. If Mikal Bridges had started well, the winger gradually fell into line. Spencer Dinwiddie had a complicated series, even if he ended on a better note. Unable to sanction when they had the chance, the Nets paid the price for their inefficiency.

The season is therefore over and fans will be able to breathe a little after seven months marked by dramas, injuries and trades. Place now in a new cycle and there will be work for Sean Marks. If Jacque Vaughn will be on the bench for the Nets next year, it’s hard to really know who he will have on the field. Do we give the keys to the shop to Bridges? How to get rid of the garbage contracts of Ben Simmons or Joe Harris? Do we keep a bit of continuity or do we throw everything away to rebuild in depth? Some of the many questions the front office will have to ask itself this summer.
