A sad end to the career of world star Bruce Willis, after his family announced his retirement from acting due to “health problems”, most notably his loss of the ability to speak, after his diagnosis revealed that he had “aphasia”, which affects his cognitive abilities.
Stuart Wilson, who has worked with Willis for 17 years, talked about the stages of his deterioration, and said that the condition of the action hero
He deteriorated in the last months before his diagnosis.
Doppler Willis said: “When we were talking to him he seemed to be absent-minded and forgetful a lot…it became clear that he was suffering more than just forgetfulness.”
He added, “Being with someone that much you will notice the changes… We realized that he was facing other things but at the time we didn’t know exactly what it was… We thought maybe he’d take a break.”
Aphasia is a devastating condition in which patients lose the ability to communicate, and have difficulty writing, speaking, and even understanding what others are saying.
