Bruges push for Sander Berge: an offer of 15 (!) million euros refused

Eder Balanta et Mats Rits woundedUsed seems well and truly determined to further strengthen a tad a midfield considered too friable. In any case, this is what our colleagues from HLN announce since, according to their informationthe Blauw & Zwart would push hard to try to repatriate the former Genkois, Sander Bergein ProLeague.

The Brugeois would have even already made an offer of 15 million euros (+ bonus) … refused by Sheffield United. It therefore remains to be seen whether the Bruges board will agree to spend a few more million more to crack the English management and bring in the 24-year-old Norwegian.

If this transfer were to materialize, it would explode all records in the Pro League since the arrival of Zinho Vanheusdenfor more than 12 million to Standard, remains today the most expensive incoming transfer in the history of our championship.

It would no doubt also illustrate that, financially, Bruges has entered a new category and no longer hesitates to spend large sums to strengthen its core. The arrival of Kamal Sowah for 9 million had been a first proof, the potentially even more bling-bling reinforcement of Berge might be another.

As a reminder, Berge had made the heyday of Genk between 2017 and 2020, participating greatly in the 2019 title, before lifting the sails towards the Premier League. A transfer which, already at the time, had made a lot of noise since the Limburgers had touched 23 million for the Norwegian.
