Brussels: A metro train hits the platform at Pétillon station

Traffic in the Brussels metro has been interrupted since five o’clock this morning in the Pétillon station. No train runs between Mérode and Hermann-Debroux. Travelers are taken care of by bus shuttles between the two stations and metro traffic will probably remain interrupted until Wednesday, the STIB announced on Monday followingnoon.

A flood, possibly caused by a nearby Vivaqua construction site, is believed to be the cause of these disturbances. The first metro of the day hit the platform following the influx of water which would have moved the tracks. At this early hour, the metro train was traveling at reduced speed and without passengers, no casualties are to be deplored.
