Brussels Airlines Flight Stranded in Kinshasa: Technical Problems Cause Delays and Passenger Unrest

2023-09-17 15:14:01

A Brussels Airlines plane has been stuck on the ground since Friday evening due to technical problems at Kinshasa airport, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the airline confirmed following messages on the network X (ex-Twitter).

The aircraft, an Airbus A330 registered OO-SFF, should have taken off from Kinshasa-N’Djili with around 230 passengers, but damage forced it to postpone departure twice already.

“Following the second cancellation, there was some unrest at Kinshasa airport,” confirmed an airline spokesperson. Security personnel intervened when around ten passengers wanted to go down on the tarmac in protest.

Unhappy passengers

Images of disgruntled passengers complaining of “two days of delay, without information” for a broken down plane are circulating on social networks. “They treat us like dogs,” said one passenger.
