The Brussels ring road (RO), which was initially to be closed for a third consecutive weekend next Saturday and Sunday, will finally be closed to traffic from Tuesday 10 p.m. until Friday 6 a.m., in the direction of Brussels, between the “Lillois” interchanges / Braine-l’Alleud” and “Waterloo”, announced the Sofico on Monday.
“In view of the particularly unfavorable weather conditions announced next weekend, the last days of intervention necessary to complete the rehabilitation of the Brussels Ring, from Braine-l’Alleud to the Flemish Region, will continue from tomorrow“, indicates the manager of the Walloon motorway network in a press release.This modification is the only possible option to complete the site for the start of the school year.“, supports the Sofico.
Planned deviations
To reach Brussels, a diversion will be set up from the Haut-Ittre interchange and all the axes converging there (E19/A7, E411/A4, N25, N28, N280). Users will have to take the West Ring towards Wauthier-Braine. Those who will still drive on the East Ring to reach a local destination will be forced to leave the Ring at exit 24 “Lillois/Braine-l’Alleud”.
Started at the end of June, this project aims to rehabilitate and secure the Brussels Ring (R0) from Braine-l’Alleud to the Flemish Region, towards the capital.
The total cost of the rehabilitation and security works is estimated at three million euros. Some 36,000 vehicles circulate each day in normal times on the portion of the ring concerned.
Note that the first weekend of complete ring closure had to be postponed by a week due to bad weather.
