North of the capital, the redevelopment of the Heysel plateau constitutes an important and complicated issue. Important, because the 70 hectare site is of strategic importance on a regional scale. Complicated, because the Neo project, which includes a shopping center, housing and a sports park, is encountering great difficulties in seeing the light of day (see elsewhere). A part of the Neo project, that which is not contested by any actor and is directly achievable in urban planning terms, is however gaining momentum. In the pipeline for years, the Sports Park will enter its realization phase. Owner of the Heysel plateau, the City of Brussels is in charge. It will soon launch a European public market. The project, the cost of which is now estimated at 50 million euros, should see the light of day by 2030.
