Brussels to Amsterdam Train Evacuation: Technical Problem Halts Journey – Latest Updates

2023-08-29 21:33:00

A train linking Brussels to Amsterdam has been blocked since 7 p.m. Tuesday, near Merksem (province of Antwerp), following a technical problem. The approximately 500 passengers who were on board were evacuated from the train, the SNCB said on Tuesday evening.

“The technical problem had initially seemed resolved but another problem arose later”, explains a spokesperson for the railway company.

SNCB therefore decided to evacuate the train. The passengers were placed in another train located nearby, and supervised by emergency services, while waiting to be able to continue their journey.
