The organizers of the awards ceremony announced this on their website before the ceremony was held on the 20th (local time).
In the ‘Favorite Pop Duo or Group’ category, BTS won the trophy, beating out strong candidates such as Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maneskin, and One Republic.
In this category, since 2019, it has set a record of winning the award for four consecutive years.
BTS made their first connection with this ceremony when they won the ‘Favorite Social Artist’ category in 2018, and have been on the list of winners for five consecutive years until this year.
In particular, at this awards ceremony last year, they became the first K-pop singers to win the ‘Artist of the Year’, which corresponds to the grand prize.
BTS did not attend the awards ceremony this year, but member Jungkook attended the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and performed enthusiastically.
