Building the Future: Issy-les-Moulineaux’s First Hydrogen Service Station

In the Hauts-de-Seine department, the town of Issy-les-Moulineaux is the first of the department to have built a hydrogen service station. Raymond Loiseleur is the general manager of Grand Paris Seine Ouest services and one of the major players behind the station.

Hydrogen, a totally green energy?

“It’s clean energy. You need electricity and water to make molecules. It is not a fuel, but the result of an electronisation between water and electricity. Electrolysis can be stored in a battery and the battery can be used and that is one of the advantages. Hydrogen is completely decarbonized. It is an energy of the future and we believe in it. There is sometimes the question of the cost of producing and transporting this hydrogen. Like all things, there is a cost, both economic and ecological. But here too, we have planned to create our hydrogen in an environmentally friendly way. Then, in the coming months, we are going to launch a hydrogen production station in Issy-les-Moulineaux,” says the general manager of services for Grand Paris Seine Ouest.

“Making carbon-free energy is at the heart of this century’s challenges. This is what gives meaning to land use planning. Ultimately, it’s not just about landscaping the public space, but also providing solutions to the energies that will shape the future,” says Raymond Loiseleur.
