Bureche School successfully carried out the 2nd version of the Student Congress on Emotional Well-being

With 200 participating students and 3 invited delegations, the 2nd version of the Youth Congress on emotional well-being was held at the Bureche School facilities, where experiences were shared and support networks were generated to continue carrying out this type of initiative.

Bureche School brought together in one place 200 young people who participated in the 2nd version of the Student Congress on Emotional Well-being (MINDD) and had the participation of the delegations of the schools: San Luis Beltrán, Bilingüe Santa Marta and the North Gymnasium of the city of Valledupar.

This 2nd. version was a space in which students from different contexts and schools were able to meet in person to strengthen ties of friendship, talk, share knowledge, experiences, and strategies to face day-to-day situations that impact young people on issues related to emotional well-being.

The results of the 4 work groups show that young people need more spaces for participation with their peers, to be heard and to be able to express themselves freely when they feel identified with the experiences or situations that others live or have lived. What motivates them to take into their own hands, the path to a conscious and empathetic society, with greater social sensitivity for the other.

Juan Sebastián Rizzo, a twelfth-grade student from Bureche and President of the Organizing Committee, reports that “In the post-pandemic framework, we have seen situations related to emotional self-regulation, self-love and self-esteem, procrastination and demotivation, and healthy eating they have become a common factor in young people, and it is necessary to provide spaces like these, where we can express ourselves freely together with people who are going through similar situations. MINDD was an event in which young people from different schools were able to talk about issues related to emotional well-being. In addition, to provide us with a comfortable and free space so that the attendees could share knowledge, experiences and strategies to face situations that we live in our day to day.”

The spaces for discussion and reflection around the issues that impact on the daily life of young people, allowed that within the conclusions reached by the different committees, they refer that the most important lesson of events such as MINDD, is to allow young people reconnect with their quality as human beings, that other young people may be experiencing similar situations, in addition to having spaces for open communication and most importantly, feeling heard.

Bureche School, as an educational institution committed to the emotional well-being of young people, will continue to develop spaces like these, in which young people are allowed to be heard, to be able to have deep conversations and reflections guided by experts, that transcend projects and initiatives of social impact in which strategies and support networks are established among the young people themselves.
