This Friday, only Clara Burel joined the main round of the American Grand Slam by winning the tie-break of the third set (2-6, 6-4, 7-6) against the Japanese Misaki Doi. The 21-year-old Frenchwoman alternated the good and the bad on her face-off (11 aces, 8 double faults) to finally get out of it.
The rest of the blue contingent was less successful since Corentin Moutet lost in two sets (7-6, 6-2) against the Chinese Yibing Wu (178th in the world), as did Hugo Grenier against the Slovak Norbert Gombos (114th ), defeated in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) and Chloé Paquet, also beaten in three sets by Czech Linda Fruhvirtova (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
