About fifty women were kidnapped between January 12 and 13 by suspected jihadists in Arbinda, in the north of the country. According to local sources, a first group of around 40 women was abducted on Thursday and another of around 20 the following day. As Arbinda is under blockade and is experiencing supply problems, these women had gone to the bush to pick plants for food. This is where they were taken. The alert was given by five women who were able to escape their captors. The search is still ongoing, according to local sources, to find them.
