Burning shrine of the Virgin Mary!

Yesterday followingnoon, unknown persons attacked the religious “Cave of Al-Zankalya” shrine located between the towns of Ain El-Dalb and Al-Qarya, east of Sidon, where they destroyed icons inside and burned the altar and the statue of the Virgin Mary.

After one of the concerned visitors was informed of the state of the shrine following the attack, the security forces launched investigations to uncover the perpetrators and hold them accountable.

The attack also denounced the activities of the region and its people.

Deputy Michel Moussa and Mayor of Ain El-Dalib, Danny Jabbour, visited the shrine, and met with the information officer assigned to supervise the investigation, as the security services continue their work in order to find out the perpetrator or perpetrators and punish them.

MP Moussa denounced this attack on this archaeological and religious shrine, calling on the security services to “quickly arrest the perpetrators and bring them before the courts.”
