This Monday Carmen María Torrebiarte de Amador assumed the presidency of the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations (Cacif), replacing Ignacio Lejárraga, who concludes his term.
The rotation in the presidency of Cacif takes place every year among the business chambers that comprise it, and on this occasion it corresponded to the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala (CIG).
Torrebiarte is currently director of the CIG and has held other positions in the management of the organized private sector. She is the first woman to assume the presidency of the organized private sector.
Among the relevant aspects and from the business perspective, this sector is attentive to the performance of the first year of government of President Bernardo Arévalo and his cabinet, the integration of the nomination commissions for the election of the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ ) and Courts of Appeal, the economic legislative agenda, and the onslaught of the possible effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
Likewise, the monitoring of political-economic relations with the United States government, which are going through a good moment.

Separately, the Chamber of Agriculture (Camagro) held its assembly on March 19 in which it elected the new 2024-2025 board of directors.
Charles Bland was re-elected as president; and as first vice president, Andrés Botrán; and José Tulio González as second vice president, it was reported.
