Rens appears to have MS, an autoimmune disease of the nervous system that cannot be cured (but can be slowed down). “From incredible joy to a pitch-black day. It’s incredibly sad. Any deterioration I am going through now cannot be undone,” he says excitedly in the broadcast.
Therapy
Rens can receive treatment in Mexico. Friends and family ensure that they do not have to worry about this financially.
Ultimately, purchasing agent Alex van Keulen also finds a home in Haarlem for the family. The two are not immediately enthusiastic, but after the team’s renovation they are still very happy with the result. “It’s so different than I could have imagined. So much more beautiful. We are extremely happy with it.”
