Vienna – The abuse of office trial against three high-ranking employees of the former Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism (BVT) and a senior official of the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum (BFA) ends almost musically. “They wanted to play in the concert of the greats!”, the prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Affairs and Corruption (WKStA) accused the secret service agents in his closing argument. “And when I hear the word concert, a hit song comes to mind: ‘Why didn’t you say no?'”, he denounces what he sees as the “mess” that arose from a cooperation between the BVT and the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad about a Syrian general.
