Premiere today for the “Recycle – change water heater” program, with beneficiaries being informed by SMS on their mobile phones.
Beneficiaries immediately receive the checks that cover part of the cost of the new solar water heater, as well as the installation, from the suppliers participating in the program.
In the meantime, the suppliers receive a “rain” of orders, with the phones ringing incessantly. “About 80 solar people come to our store a day,” says Elisabeth Alberti, manager of a solar water heater manufacturing company.
The percentage of the subsidy ranges from 50% to 60%, depending on the capacity of the hot water tank
(Boiler) of the water heater, as well as the income category of the beneficiary.
“It does not mean that if a customer gets his hands on a voucher that says he has a €900 subsidy, he will win €900 from the state. If he buys a solar panel that costs €1000 and the subsidy rate is 60%, i.e. €600, he will have to pay €400”, explains Nikolaos Albertis, owner of a company manufacturing solar water heaters.
Modern apartment building regulations usually dictate how and where solar water heaters are to be installed. However, in old apartment buildings where there are no such provisions, the owners can install solar water heaters, but there must always be space for the rest to install as well.
More than 500,000 applications were submitted to the program. About 103,000 were accepted, while the rest have a runner-up position.
