Cage The Elephant have officially announced their seventh album, ‘Dying In Reverse,’ set for release on February 5, 2027, via Big Loud Rock, unveiling the guitar-heavy new single ‘Make It Easy’ as the latest taster. The band, fresh from a run as special guests on Oasis’ ‘Live ’25 tour,’ went straight into the studio to record the record.
Frontman Matthew Shultz described the album as “such a special one for us,” calling it “without doubt, one of the most creatively gratifying experiences we’ve had as a group yet.” He framed the record as “a goodbye to the past, closing the door on an era, with a renewed perspective grounded in the present while also walking towards the future with hope and gratitude. Signifying a rebirth of sorts.” The album was produced by Justin Raisen and his brother Jeremiah Raisen (A.K.A SADPONY) and commemorates the band’s 20th anniversary, having been formed in Kentucky by brothers Matt and Brad Shultz in 2006.
Make It Easy Debuts with Garage-Rock Energy
‘Make It Easy’ is the band’s newest offering, following prior singles ‘Beaches in Tennessee’ and the title track ‘Dying in Reverse.’ The new single was debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week. The album promises a renewed emphasis on spontaneity, distorted guitars, garage-rock energy, and psychedelic experimentation. According to the band’s announcement, the new material draws from the ragged energy of garage rock, flashes of psychedelia, infectious melodies, and dense layers of distorted guitar.
A Period of Intensity and Renewal
The band’s recent activity followed an unusually theatrical sequence of events. During their Tuesday-night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the band performed ‘Make It Easy,’ and Kimmel displayed artwork for the band’s then-unannounced album, sparking speculation among fans. The band followed the television appearance with an intimate Los Angeles performance on Wednesday before officially revealing ‘Dying In Reverse’ on November 5. Last year, Shultz had been detained in a hotel in 2023 for carrying firearms which were only licenced in Kentucky and Tennessee. He later told NME, “The arrest, without a doubt, was a miracle. It saved my life.”
