Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soeder and ex-President Joachim Gauck called on the German government to transfer Taurus missiles to Kyiv. German media reported this.
Taurus missiles would help Ukraine defend itself “from constant attacks by drones and missiles,” Markus Soeder said yesterday at a retreat of CSU Bundestag deputies in the Seeon monastery.
“This would be the only serious chance for Ukraine to find its courage and not let the Russians win,” Zeder was quoted as saying by the DPA news agency.
Former German President Joachim Gauck, in turn, criticized the indecisiveness of the federal government, writes the DW* main telegram channel. German ministers, according to the ex-president, are acting too cautiously.
“I don’t understand military affairs, but I talked to people who have the necessary military knowledge. And following these conversations, I can no longer understand why we are hesitating with the supply of these weapons and other ammunition,” Gauck said in an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
As reported EADailygovernment Olaf Scholz is hesitant to supply Taurus missiles to Kiev for two reasons – because of the possibility of using them to strike targets located deep in the territory of the Russian Federation, and also because “Ukraine, apparently, would have to provide geodata or maintenance personnel.”
