The announcement of the KKE Achaia organizations states:
The ND government, with the consent of SYRIZA and PASOK, sends a Greek frigate to the war in the Red Sea and its crew to the mouth of the wolf, to support the American-British operation “Guard of Prosperity” and respectively “Shields” of the European Union, taking over in fact, its administration through the Larissa Headquarters.
This is a very dangerous development that is added to the involvement in the war in Ukraine, to the support of the murderous state of Israel in the slaughter of the Palestinian people. This involvement puts our country deeper into the vortex of war, turns the Greek people into the aggressors of other peoples and at the same time the target of retaliation.
Sending a frigate to the Red Sea, thousands of miles from the Greek border, is not intended to protect the safety and lives of seafarers, who have expressed their categorical opposition to travel to war zones and refuse to sacrifice their lives for the interests of shipowners.
The government’s claims conflict with reality and cannot justify the necessity of this mission for our country and the Greek people. The high degree of risk is demonstrated both by the dozens of public protests by serving soldiers and by the recent increase in resignations of Navy personnel.
The KKE denounces the attitude of the ND government and demands that no frigate be sent to the Red Sea, no Greek officer, sailor, soldier in the US, NATO and EU imperialist operations, that the Greek Armed Forces return from the Euro-Atlantic missions.
The Greek Armed Forces, their personnel, frigates and other military assets have the responsibility to defend the territorial integrity of the country. They have no business outside the borders, in the imperialist missions around the globe and in the protection of shipbuilding capital, which exploits the seafarers, enjoys dozens of tax breaks, provocative privileges from the bourgeois state, the governments of ND, PASOK and SYRIZA and collects huge profits, as is happening in this period with the multiplication of fares.
To annul the decision to send a frigate of the Greek Navy to the war in the Red Sea and to disengage the country from the Euro-Atlantic plans.
We have the power, the people and the youth, to impose our right, for a Greece without participation in the US – NATO and EU wars at the expense of the people. We are intensifying the fight for disengagement from NATO and the EU and closing the bases of death.
