Cameron heads to Washington for talks on Gaza and Ukraine and to meet with Trump

England – British Foreign Secretary David Cameron heads to Washington on Tuesday to hold talks with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, on conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

A British Foreign Office statement said that Cameron would call for a “full, urgent and transparent investigation” into the Israeli air strike that killed seven aid workers in Gaza last week.

The Foreign Ministry added that Cameron “will stress that the killing of humanitarian workers from the ‘global central kitchen’ is completely unacceptable and that major changes must be made to ensure the safety of aid workers on the ground.”

The statement stated that the talks between Cameron and Blinken will also focus on “the path to achieving a permanent ceasefire and delivering larger quantities of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

Cameron will also urge the US Congress to approve a proposed $60 billion military aid package for Ukraine that has been blocked by Republican lawmakers for months.

This comes against the backdrop of European countries’ commitment to provide more than $184 billion to Ukraine, including more than $15 billion from Britain.

On the other hand, a British Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement published by the British Embassy in Washington, that Cameron’s visit to the American capital on Tuesday and Wednesday will come after his meeting with former President Donald Trump in Florida today.

While British officials are not aware of the content of the upcoming meeting with Trump, the Foreign Ministry statement said, “It is a normal practice for ministers to hold meetings with opposition candidates as part of their routine international work.”
