The Stallions drew, 2-2, this Saturday January 20, 2024 against the Fennecs of Algeria during the second day of the African Football Cup of Nations. After leading twice, coach Hubert Velud’s team was always caught behind. The Stallions are second in Group D behind Angola. In this micro sidewalk, supporters appreciate this confrontation which brought together 33,501 people inside the bowl of the Bouaké Peace Stadium.

*Karim Souabou, Director General of the National Fund for the Promotion of Sports and Leisure:* The Stallions have come for a seven-battle fight. We won the first battle against Mauritania. The second took place today against Algeria. The team produced a collective game in the first half. I congratulate the players for the game they produced. But we will have to learn to manage our matches. The observation that emerges is that all matches are played at least, with added time, in 100 minutes. This evening, there were 9 minutes of added time and unfortunately we were unable to manage the lead we had. We finally played into the hands of Algeria who, at one point in the match, seemed to be playing for a draw.

For the match against Angola, the Stallions have every chance. it must pass for victory but failing that at least a draw to confirm the ticket for the round of 16.

*Mohamed Faouzi, Algerian supporter:*

The match was very difficult for Algeria which presented tactical flaws. I think the weather had something to do with tonight’s score. After Burkina Faso, the players and staff will certainly prepare for the match against Mauritania scheduled for January 23, 2024.

*Kadi Diallo, originally from Burkina Faso and resident in Bouaké:*

The Stallions played very well. But they had to relax in stoppage time, certainly because they believed victory was assured. Which allowed the Algerians to equalize. I think we will have to stay against it in the next match until the end.

*Karim Tapsoba, Burkinabè supporter:*

The Stallions produced a good game. Unfortunately they were unable to maintain the lead they had over the opponent. I remain optimistic for the match against Angola. The Stallions can beat the Angolan team.

*Boureima Ouédraogo, Publication Director of the newspaper Le Reporter:*

The team performed well until the final minutes of the match. When we finished regulation time with a goal in advance, we said to ourselves that we had qualification at our fingertips. it had to be managed well. Unfortunately we made some mistakes, Algeria believed in it, the players held on and got the draw. Looking at the match as a whole, we could have done better by qualifying for the round of 16. The football gods have decidedly otherwise.

In the future, we will also have to be very careful in how we rotate the squad. We had the impression that with a one-goal lead, the staff was convinced that victory was a foregone conclusion and during the substitutions brought in players who were unable to quickly get into the flow of the game. The proof The second came on a bad play from a newcomer.

Apart from that, the Stallions fought well but there are still adjustments to be made. If the staff settles these things well, I believe that the team will be talked about in this competition. I hope that the team can improve in order to attack the next match with more serenity. As for the qualification, I have no doubts. Even if it is among the best thirds, the Stallions will be able to be part of the rest of the competition but we want to pass valiantly without counting on these calculations.
