CAN U20 – Solomon Agbalaka (Nigeria): “We deserve victory”

Nigerian defender Solomon Agbalaka says the Flying Eagles deserved their 1-0 win over hosts Egypt at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The left-back netted the winning goal twenty minutes from time to earn the Flying Eagles their first points in Group A following losing to Senegal in the tournament opener.

The Nigerians failed to qualify for the last edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania two years ago, reports Cafonline.

Bosso Ladan’s men weathered the storm of the Pharaohs in Cairo. The hosts created plenty of chances but failed to capitalize on them in front of their passionate supporters, but the defender insists they deserve the win.

“We deserved to win. We worked very hard, so I would like to thank my coach and all my colleagues for their efforts. I am very happy with the result of the match. The match was not easy as we were facing the hosts. », Solomon told reporters following being named man of the match.
