Canada: Dozens arrested as protests cleared

After weeks of blockade of Canada’s capital Ottawa because of the government’s CoV policy, the police started clearing the streets yesterday. 70 people were arrested and charged with various offences, including damaging property. Acting Police Chief Steve Bell said yesterday followingnoon (local time). But the action is not over yet.

For three weeks, thousands have been demonstrating in Canada and especially in Ottawa once morest CoV restrictions and vaccination regulations. Border crossings and parts of the capital were blocked with trucks and other vehicles. The life of the residents there was therefore severely restricted.

The protests were triggered by vaccination requirements for truck drivers. On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared a national emergency for the first time in Canadian history in response to the protests.
