Washington: A Canadian native has been jailed for 22 years for sending a poisoned letter to former US President Donald Trump. 56-year-old Pascale Ferrier was sentenced under the Biological Weapons Act.

Attorney Eugene Ohm said Ferrier, a French immigrant, has no criminal record and is a mother of two with a master’s degree in engineering. Pascale was arrested at the Canada-US border in September 2020. He has been accused of sending a threatening letter to Trump by smearing the poisonous substance ricin, which he made himself, on the letter. The incident is ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

In the letter, Trump was called a dirty dictator and asked to drop out of the race. Also, nine other charges are pending against them. Eight of those sent similar letters to police and prison officials in Ferrier, Texas.
