Canadians will be among the 1st to be able to use an edit button

Social network Twitter announces that Canadians will be among the first to be able to use an edit button that the platform will begin testing later this month.

The feature will first be available to Canadian subscribers of Twitter Blue, the company’s paid subscription service, starting in late September. This feature will allow subscribers to edit their tweets, add or remove tags, and rearrange joined speakers within 30 minutes of posting.

Tweets will be tagged as edited and users will have access to a history of edits. The company says the feature will be intended to reduce the frustration of having to delete a tweet or leave typos onscreen, as there is currently no way to edit posts on Twitter.

The rollout of the feature will come as Canada seeks to regulate tech companies and pressure mounts to tackle online harassment.
