Panama defeated 2-0 to Costa Rica this Thursday on the first date of the League of Nations from Concacafan adverse result for the Ticos in their penultimate match before facing New Zealand in the playoff for Qatar 2022.
The goals of the match, played at the Rommel Fernández stadium in Panama City, were scored by Ishmael Dayfrom (52) y Cecilio Waterman (76), in a duel where the Ticos sank in the second half.
In the first part, the Ticos showed more attitude against a rival who seemed apathetic. However, in the second act everything changed and the canaleros had more chances against a Costa Rican team incapable of showing danger.
With this result, Panama adds three points in Group B of the Turn on the of the League of Nations, while Costa Rica y Martinique left with zero units.
The technical director of Costa Rica, the Colombian Luis Fernando Suarezraised the duel as an opportunity to see players facing the transcendental match on the 14th in Doha, for a ticket to Qatar-2022.
“All games give you a message and you have to evaluate everything. It was important to look at players, look at individuals and then draw conclusions to make the best decision for that match against New Zealand”, said Suárez after the defeat.
The Ticos will now receive the 5 to Martinique before leaving for Qatar.
