Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles said on Saturday that President Nicolas Maduro intends to silence the right of Venezuelans to choose and know the detailed results of last Sunday’s presidential elections “through repression, violence and fear.”

Through a post on X, the former governor wrote to presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Brazil), Gustavo Petro (Colombia), Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Mexico) and Gabriel Boric (Chile) that Maduro “moved away from the causes” that they defend in each of their countries.

“Through repression, violence and fear, they want to extinguish and silence the right of Venezuelans to choose and to know in detail, table by table, the result of the presidential election of July 28,” he said.

The two-time presidential candidate said that in six days Maduro has “attacked” leaders of popular and rural sectors of Venezuela, as well as minors.

“So much talk about class struggle and Maduro ended up being a classist who denigrates the most humble people,” he added.
