Captain P. & The Sailors of Brauteicht: A Spectacular Performance of Rock and Pop Hits

The two local matadors came up with a creative band name for this performance: “Captain P. & The Sailors of Brauteicht”. Her spectacular appearance in a rubber dinghy on a trailer, pulled by a lawn tractor, was also fitting. Four band members had already played here two years ago as “Midnight Specials”: organizer and lead guitarist Gernot Hochstöger and bassist Georg Haider – both from Bärnkopf, singer Leo Fries from Roiten and drummer Michael Loidl from Zwettl. New in this formation was the Zwettler Jakob Kainz (keyboard and guitar).

These five gifted musicians played a wide range of rock and pop hits from earlier decades, including AC/DC, CCR, Guns n’ Roses, Elvis Presley, Prince, Pink Floyd and The Beatles, along with some country songs. For the most part, the titles sounded fairly true to the original, but some were also reinterpreted, such as the hits “Red Lips Should Be Kissed” and “Marmor, Stein und Eisen ruptt” in rock versions. Outstanding from this great ensemble was Gernot Hochstöger with his virtuoso e-guitar solos.

Young people from Bärnkopf took care of the supply of drinks and snacks. Georg Haider thanked everyone who made this great event possible in fine but cool weather. Even if three of the five musicians can often be heard with the well-known “Rock Knights”, it remains to be hoped that this formation, which delighted the many listeners, will continue to exist, as Leo Fries already hinted at.
