On Wednesday evening, a car fire in the Votivpark garage in Vienna-Alsergrund caused a large-scale deployment of the professional fire brigade. At alarm level two, the flames were fought with breathing apparatus using an extinguishing line and at the same time several large fans were used to prevent smoke in the multi-storey facility, fire department spokesman Jürgen Figerl reported to APA. No injuries were reported.
The emergency services were alerted around 9.30 p.m. and due to the size of the garage, which has several entrances and accesses and extends over several levels, they came in large numbers. The system was cleared of smoke with several large fans that were placed at the entrances.
After the fire, it turned out that large areas of the votive parking garage were affected by soot deposits. In the next few hours, it should be clarified when the system can be released again.
