A car crashed into an ARCO gas station in Grants Pass, Oregon, Sunday night, leaving both vehicles and the building with significant damage. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. At the intersection of Southeast M and 7th Street, according to Grants Pass Police.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Jackson Mattock, who allegedly lost control of his car although traveling southbound on SE 7th Street. Reports indicate Mattock accelerated as he approached the intersection and subsequently struck a black Toyota pickup truck. The impact sent Mattock’s vehicle airborne, causing it to roll over and land on the ARCO gas station building.

Both Mattock and a female passenger were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Authorities have not released details regarding the extent of their injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Mattock was issued a criminal citation for reckless driving, reckless endangering, and third-degree assault. The Grants Pass Police Department is investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.

The ARCO gas station sustained heavy damage, and crews are expected to begin boarding up the building. According to an employee, the station may be closed for months while repairs are made. One employee was working at the time of the incident but was not injured, as the impact occurred away from the office area.

Dispatch received multiple calls reporting the crash, with the first call coming in around 7:03 p.m. From a bystander who witnessed the vehicle collide with the station at 785 SE 7th Street.
