In Kitzbühel, a ski tourer was lucky in an avalanche and escaped without injuries. The 74-year-old German decided late in the morning to enter a 35-degree steep gully while descending a closed ski route in Aurach. Immediately afterwards, a slab avalanche broke out above him and swept him 70 meters away. However, he was not buried. A witness observed the avalanche and notified the emergency services. The 74-year-old was finally rescued by an emergency helicopter and flown to the valley station in Kitzbühel.
