Although we know many people who are afraid of flying, the fear of getting into a car is much less common. However, accidents are statistically more numerous on the road than in the air. Without wanting to create new fears, there is an object in your car that could save you in the event of an accident.
Here’s what to do if you’re stuck in your car
When you have a car accident, it is possible that you find yourself trapped in the passenger compartment for various reasons: system out of service or blocked or damaged doors for example. To get out of the car, there is only one solution: break the windows. This is obviously not the easiest thing to do. This is where the headrest comes into play.
Start by removing it from the seat by pulling it upwards. Do not try to break the window with the metal rods, you would waste a lot of energy and probably not succeed in the end.
Instead, place one of the rods between the window seal and the glass. Once it is in place, use the headrest for leverage. The glass should break quite easily. You can then make your way outside.
We don’t wish you to have to use this technique but it’s better to know it just in case!
