A passerby noticed the victim lying on the floor in the laundromat. He immediately notified the emergency services. The ambulance team who then arrived on the spot saw their CO detector go off immediately when they entered this place. She then asked for reinforcements from the firefighters and an SMUR team.

“Our firefighters measured high CO values in this laundry room. The lady was lucky that the passerby noticed her,” said Brussels fire department spokesman Walter Derieuw. “The victim was transferred, conscious, to the hospital. His days are not in danger”.

The CO poisoning came from the laundry dryers. The combustion gases from these machines were not properly evacuated.
