The Spanish Society of General and Family Physicians (SEMG) actively participates in the organization of CaReMe-O 2024, an international congress that will bring together the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic areas and that will be held in a hybrid form of the March 15 to 16, 2024 in Barcelona.
It is prestigious international meeting is recommended by the World Organization of Family Doctors (Wonca) on its website, within its events section, and will address a critical and growing health challenge: convergence of obesity, diabetes and kidney and cardiovascular diseases. In this context, the role of the Primary Care doctor is more crucial than ever as a healthcare facilitator at the gateway to the healthcare system and in the management of these interrelated conditions, according to the organizers.
The CaReMe-O 2024 conference endorsed by SEMG aims to reinforce this central role, highlighting the need for a comprehensive participation of family doctors in all aspects of patient care. To achieve this, it will bring together Primary Care doctors and a multidisciplinary panel of experts, with one ultimate objective: improve patient care of the cardiovascular, renal and metabolic areas.
The doctors Mariam De la Poza Abad and Alfonso Pérez Jiménezpresident and vice president of the Catalan Society of General and Family Physicians (SEMG Catalunya), are part of the Scientific Committee of this important event, as co-presidents of CaReMe-O 2024. For two days, the Training program will be focused towards a comprehensive understanding of the complex interrelationships between these health conditions (obesity, diabetes, and kidney and cardiovascular diseases) and explore effective strategies for the participation, training and integration of primary care doctors to address these clinical challenges.
