It is considered the greatest legend of Club América and one of the best foreign soccer players who have been in Mexico, but behind the greatness of Carlos Reinoso as a player there is a drug addiction history that it was close to costing him his family, friends and all his money, until he found his salvation in religion.

“The greatest triumph of my life is to have gotten out of drugs, I recovered more than 30 years ago and it was not easy, it cost me a world. Recalling what the ordeal of recognizing himself as an addict and the long road to recovery was like, the former Chilean soccer player said that Christianity pulled him out of the depthseven when he wore the pockets of his pants with “staples” of cocaine to listen to the sermons.
“One day we went to Amistad Cristiana and I was carrying drugs in my pockets, listening to the preaching of the pastor I felt that I had already committed all the sins. At that moment I started crying, I came home and in the bathroom I threw the drugs down the toilet,” he said.
There are always obstacles to overcome and Reinoso suffered a relapse in the mid-90s when he was coach of Toros Nezauntil he entered a rehabilitation clinic to be presumed clean to date.
“I had a relapse in Toros Neza and the one who helped me a lot was Juan Antonio Hernández. I relapsed because my daughter Jessika appeared in my life when she was 18 years old and I didn’t know how to tell my wife. At that moment I relapsed and it was Mr. Hernández who One day he came up to me and said: ‘I want you to go to Oceanica’ and I did not know how he had noticed. That same night I was hospitalized, I stayed for a month and from then on I did not use again“.
