On the sidelines of the Playoffs, a very big breaking news has just fallen on the NBA planet: Carmelo Anthony has decided to officially announce his retirement from the floors, a year after his last game in the Great League in the jersey of the Lakers.
It was April 5, 2022, on the floor of the Suns. We did not know it at the time, but this match represents the very last of Carmelo Anthony’s career.
Without a team this year, Melo therefore chose to say stop. The news was announced by the player himself on his Twitter account, through a video of almost two minutes in which we find some of his greatest highlights, an emotional speech, as well as his son Kiyan who will now “take over”.

Carmelo Anthony is obviously one of the best scorers in NBA history and one of the most gifted all-time forwards. 28,289 points on the clock between Denver and New York (and a few other franchises), ninth highest total in the Big Leaguethat makes you a man.
Melo is also ten All-Star Game selections, six All-NBA Team selections (twice in the second, four times in the third), a top scorer title and a place in the Great League top 75 all-timers. To that, we must also add a superb NCAA title with Syracuse before appearing in the legendary 2003 Draft (with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh), and especially his many accomplishments in FIBA basketball. Melo is one of the greatest representatives of Team USA, with whom he won three Olympic gold medals (a record shared with Kevin Durant) while holding several records (37 points in a match, second scorer in the history of Team USA).
So yes, in the midst of it all, Carmelo Anthony never won an NBA title, and didn’t have the end of his career he was probably looking for. But Carmelo Anthony remains one of the most talented players the League has seen, so clearly he will be missed.
