In order to mitigate an important risk that guarantees the correct provision of the aqueduct service to the people of Cartagena, and after arranging the clearing of the area in which a vulnerable population had settled with homes on the raw water conduction pipe, Aguas de Cartagena has scheduled intervention on a section of this network that is damaged.

This technical procedure will be carried out next Wednesday, September 20, starting at 7:00 am and will extend until 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023, and for this reason it will be necessary to suspend the water supply at 40 % from Cartagena.

In October, beaches 4 and 5 that were closed due to Coastal Protection works would open

While these works are carried out, only the second raw water pipeline from the Albornoz EBAC to the El Bosque Drinking Water Treatment Plant (PTAP) will remain in service, in the El Paraguay neighborhood, which implies a significant decrease in the capacity of production of drinking water that is usually distributed to the city.

Aguas de Cartagena will take advantage of this suspension to simultaneously carry out other preventive and corrective maintenance activities in the aqueduct infrastructure, such as improvements in the El Bosque water treatment plant to continue optimizing its operation: tank washing, installation of gutters, washing of flocculators and changing valves, among others.

Work will also be carried out on the raw water conduction line between Dolores and Piedrecitas, as well as a leak located in the Policarpa neighborhood.

Aguas de Cartagena thanks those users, whose service will not be suspended, to avoid supplying water so as not to impact the operation of the city’s aqueduct system.

In addition, it is important to disinfect and cover the containers where the reserve water will be deposited to avoid contamination.
