CAS rejects appeals of Russian clubs and national teams to be suspended from UEFA and FIFA tournaments – Football

CAS rejected the appeals of Russian clubs and teams to be suspended from UEFA and FIFA tournaments.

In May, Zenit, Dynamo, Sochi and CSKA filed appeals with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against UEFA’s decision to remove them from European competition.

They were determined to seek the restoration of the rights to participate in tournaments.

The appeal of the RFU to the removal of the Russian national teams from participation in international tournaments was also rejected.

On May 2, UEFA decided to remove Russian clubs and national teams from the 2022/23 international season. Once an appeal is rejected, it remains in effect.

Russian teams next season will not be able to take part in European competitions, the UEFA Nations League, the U21 European Championship, women’s Euro 2022 and the 2023 Women’s World Cup qualification.
