Chilli, whether hot or mild, has a loyal following on the other side of the Atlantic. However, this market faces several dangers: aggressive competition from other countries, and the onerous reinforcement of phytosanitary controls due to a virulent parasite, the “Fall Armyworm” butterfly.

Florencia Bonsegundo joined the women’s preselection for the World Cup
2023-06-20 21:37:50
The women’s preselection continues with its preparation for the Women’s World Cup in Australia / New Zealand 2023.
This Tuesday the team met once more and Florencia Bonsegundo from Cordoba was present, one of the new ones mentioned by the coach Germán Portanova for this new microcycle.
The day began in the Complex 1 gym with an upper train circuit in charge of the physical trainers Franco Caponetto and Osvaldo Conte.
The players then began working on the field of play with the usual passing circuits, which recreate associations and match situations.
Divided into the already classic purple and pink teams, all the players participated in a definition exercise, preceded by one-touch passes to reach the goal. Defense and attack situations with lateral balls were also practiced, in a reduced field, emphasizing the rapid return to one’s own area.
Finally, a soccer block was played in a reduced space. There are still some players from Brazil to join, such as Paulina Gramaglia, as well as those who compete in the local tournament, which ends next weekend.

Birmingham Classic results: Katie Boulter loses to Zhu Lin; Harriet Dart beats Jodie Burrage
2023-06-20 20:16:03
Britain’s Katie Boulter reached a career-high ranking of 77 following winning the title in NottinghamVenue: Edgbaston Priory Club, Birmingham Dates: 19-25 JuneCoverage: Live coverage on the BBC Sport website and app and BBC iPlayer
British number one Katie Boulter suffered a first-round defeat at the Birmingham Classic, two days following winning her first WTA Tour title.
Harriet Dart later came out on top in an all-British match once morest Nottingham runner-up Jodie Burrage.
Dart beat Burrage, who was bidding to replace Boulter as British number one, 4-6 6-2 7-5.
Burrage might have replaced Boulter at the top of the rankings had she reached the final, but appeared to struggle with cramp in the final stages of the third set.
Birmingham is one of a number of British grass-court events held before Wimbledon, which begins on 3 July.
Boulter did not drop a set in her Nottingham triumph but had a quick turnaround to play in Birmingham, where she reached the quarter-finals last year.
“I knew coming here that I would be on the back foot body-wise, which is a place I actually want to be because it means I’m pushing myself having played a lot of matches,” she said.
“I didn’t want to skip a week and I’m proud of myself for going out there and I gave it absolutely everything I had.
“Unfortunately I was on the losing side today but I pick myself up and we get ready for the next few events.”
There were no British women in the top 100 at the cut-off point for this year’s Wimbledon, with the players relying on wildcards or having to come through three rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw.
Earlier, second seed Jelena Ostapenko survived a scare to beat the Czech Republic’s Linda Noskova 6-2 5-7 6-1, ranked 49 in the world.
The Latvian will face Venus Williams in the next round with the American having secured an emotional three-set win once morest Italy’s Camila Giorgi on Monday.
Romania’s Sorana Cirstea also advanced with a 6-4 2-6 6-3 win over compatriot Ana Bogdan.

[Artigo] Industry, consumers and the environment can only gain from the correct disposal of electronics
2023-06-20 19:23:47
The growing amount of e-waste is creating serious environmental problems, and for sustainable e-waste management solutions to be effective, consumers need to be aware of the importance of disposing of their devices correctly. A survey commissioned by Samsung from MindMiners and released in November 2022, shows that 94% of Brazilians consider the habit of recycling to be important, and 62% who have already incorporated the habit of separating waste also correctly dispose of electronic products for recycling.
However, only 3% of electronic waste produced in Latin America is disposed of correctly – the remaining 97% is not monitored, according to recent data from the United Nations (UN). Brazil is the fifth largest producer of electronic waste in the world. In this scenario, the launch of the Samsung Eco Troca reverse logistics program, in early 2023, is yet another effort by one of the industry leaders to publicize and encourage an extremely important initiative that aims to reduce the impacts of incorrect electronics disposal in the environment and promote the circular economy.
In practice, the Samsung Eco Troca program gives consumers the possibility to exchange their equipment – TVs, appliances, monitors and air conditioning models of any brand and in any condition – for a discount coupon when purchasing a new product from the brand. In support of this initiative, a special campaign with two videos (a 60-length version and a shorter 30-second version) is running on Samsung’s digital channels, in addition to on pay TV, and offers information on how the consumer can dispose of their products quickly, easily and safely.
And the advantages of correctly disposing of electronics go beyond individual gain: refrigerators, TVs and various other old products can be very useful to industry, even if they no longer work. Parts that make up the product can be reused in the manufacture of other parts and components. Recycling, therefore, makes it possible to keep inputs in constant use by reinserting components into the production chain. The incorrect disposal of equipment creates a real chance of compromising the security of user data, such as access to applications and passwords saved in the operating system, since there is no way of knowing its final destination.
The efficient implementation of reverse logistics and the correct disposal of electronics represent a fundamental step to ensure progress in sustainability initiatives in Brazil. With growing awareness of the negative impacts of improper disposal, businesses and consumers will increasingly adopt responsible practices to mitigate damage to the environment. With continued efforts, the Brazilian industry can exploit its immense potential to become a role model.
